Women’s Soccer set for pair of matches this week

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI women's soccer team returns to action this week with a pair of matches beginning Thursday at Patchin Field against Richmond before traveling to Asheville, North Carolina, Sunday to face UNC Asheville. This will be the final week of non-conference play before the Keydets head into SoCon action.

VMI vs. Richmond
The Keydets open the week Thursday, Sept. 10, welcoming the Richmond Spiders to Patchin Field for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
 
Richmond enters the matchup unbeaten on the season, posting three wins and three draws through its first six contests. The Spiders have allowed just two goals while scoring seven on the year.
 
Thursday's contest marks the latest meeting between the two programs, with Richmond earning a 5-0 victory in last year's season opener.
 
VMI at UNC Asheville
VMI will then hit the road Sunday, Sept. 13, traveling to Asheville for a 4 p.m. matchup with UNC Asheville at Greenwood Soccer Field.
 
The Bulldogs enter the week with a 1-3-3 mark and are coming off a matchup with Clemson. UNC Asheville has scored 12 goals this season, led by Lili Adams with three goals and seven points.
 
Sunday's meeting will be the latest chapter in the series between the Keydets and Bulldogs as VMI continues its non-conference schedule.
