Keydets Hit the Road to Face Iona, LIU

LEXINGTON, Va. – Looking to bounce back from two losses last week, the VMI women's soccer team continues road action with games at Iona College and Long Island University this weekend.
 
The Keydets (0-6) face the Gaels Thursday at 3 p.m. in New Rochelle, New York, before taking on the Sharks of LIU Saturday at 3 p.m. in Brooklyn, New York.

Redshirt freshman Sedona Dancu leads the Keydets with two goals on the year and Isabella Bruzonic earned one last week against Morehead State.

The Keydets (0-4) fell by an 11-0 score at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

THE IONA GAELS (4-0-2)
After two ties to open the season, the Gaels enter Thursday's matchup with momentum having won four straight games over Delaware State, St. Francis Brooklyn, Lafayette and Wagner. Kedarjah Lewis leads the team with four goals and three assists on the season while Faith Preziosi has three. Six other Gaels have earned one goal on the young season.
 
THE LONG ISLAND SHARKS (2-4)
The Sharks opened the season 2-1 but have dropped three-straight matches, including a 2-0 decision at UMBC Sunday. LIU travels to Dartmouth (N.H.) Thursday before returning home to face VMI. Jaylin Counts has a goal and assist this season, while Taylor Curcio, Maria Camila Orozco and Gina Proviano each have goals. Eva Katsaitis and Kayla DeTreux have split time in net through the first six games.

KEYDETS vs. IONA
The two schools have faced each other just once as the Gaels visited Lexington in 2021 and came away with a 4-3 win over VMI in a high-scoring affair.
 
KEYDETS vs. SHARKS
Saturday's matchup marks the first time VMI and LIU have squared off.
