Women’s Soccer opens SoCon play with The Citadel and UNCG

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI women's soccer team opens Southern Conference play this week with a pair of conference matches, traveling to Charleston, South Carolina, Thursday to face rival The Citadel before hosting UNCG on Sunday.

VMI at The Citadel
VMI opens its conference schedule Thursday, Sept. 17, with a 4 p.m. matchup against rival The Citadel at Washington Light Infantry Field.
 
The Bulldogs enter SoCon play at 5-1-2 and  has also won its last two contests, including a 7-0 victory over Bob Jones on Sept. 12.
 
Thursday will mark the 21st all-time meeting between the Keydets and Bulldogs, with The Citadel holding a slight 11-9 advantage in the series. 
 
VMI vs. UNCG
The Keydets return home Sunday, Sept. 20, hosting UNCG at Patchin Field for a 2 p.m. conference matchup.
 
The Spartans enter the weekend at 4-3-1 and will open SoCon play Thursday against Western Carolina before traveling to Lexington. UNCG and VMI last met in the first round of the SoCon Tournament , where UNCG prevailed 2-0.
