Women’s Soccer Battles Back, Falls to UNC Greensboro

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI women's soccer team battled back with two second-half goals Sunday afternoon, but UNC Greensboro held on for a 4-2 victory at Patchin Field in Southern Conference action.
 
The Spartans built a 3-0 advantage in the opening half before VMI responded after the break. Jordan Davis converted a penalty kick in the 51st minute to put the Keydets on the board, and Bailey Reid added another goal in the 74th minute to cut the deficit to two. 
 
VMI continued to fight through the final minutes, but UNC Greensboro held on to secure the conference victory.
 
The goal is the third of the year for Davis, which leads the team, and the first on the season for Reid.
 
The Keydets return to action Sunday, Sept. 27, traveling to Furman for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
