Men’s Track Completes Colonial Relays with Solid Marks

Men's Track places 14th overall out of 44 schools competing

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The VMI men's track and field team earned excellent marks to finish the 56th Annual Colonial Relays at William & Mary's Walter J. Zable Stadium in Williamsburg, Virginia.

The men placed 14th overall out of 44 schools competing.

The distance medley relay squad consisting of Gavin Jenkins, Trent Whittaker, Adam Waite and Zach Lauster placed second overall in 10:06.27.

In the javelin throw, Ty Wesenyak finished fourth with a distance of 45.89 meters and Ty Hevener placed right behind him in fifth at 45.42 meters.

Solomon Ghosh earned a personal-best distance of 50.50 meters in the championship discus field and teammate Herbert Brooks placed 12th at 40.65 meters. In the university discus field, Isaiah Blount came in seventh overall at 40.13 meters.

The 4x100 relay squad of Jeremiah Wilks, Nick Brown, Jonathan Gray and Jordin Poindexter finished eighth overall in 42.79 seconds. The 4x1500 meter relay team of D. Alex Fiorillo, Stephen Kelley, Ian Irizarry-Negron and Brian Tavenner arrived in ninth place at 16:35.65.

Kevin Linko performed well in the pole vault placing 10th overall at 3.85 meters.

In the triple jump, freshman Charles Male came in 14th place at 12.81 meters.

The Keydets return to action next Saturday at the Mason Spring Invitational hosted by George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.

It was a great day with the men finishing 14th out of 44 schools competing in the championship division. There were a lot of personal bests throughout the team. Our men's DMR finished 2nd with Solomon Ghosh throwing a PR in the championship discus section finishing 4th."
