Women?s Soccer Falls 4-1 at Austin Peay

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- The road struggles continued for the VMI women's soccer team on Sunday, as the Keydets fell 4-1 at Austin Peay in a non-conference match.  VMI (5-7-1) fell to 0-5 away from Patchin Field this season in their first-ever meeting against Austin Peay (4-9-1).

The Lady Govs held a 1-0 halftime advantage on Alanna Foster's tally in the 31st minute from the top of the box.  Austin Peay advanced the score to a two-goal margin in the game's 60th minute, as Ashley Michels scored her first of two goals on the day on an assist by Michelle Johnson.

The Keydets got on the board in the 71st tick of the clock, when Kathleen Underwood found Megan Strand in the box, who converted her third goal of the season to bring it back to a one-goal margin.

Austin Peay, however, put the game out of reach with back-to-back goals in the 85th and 88th minutes, securing the victory.

For the match, Austin Peay out-shot VMI 26-5, including an 11-1 margin in shots on goal.  Angela Redmond made seven saves in the VMI net, while Carley Newman was untested in the Lady Govs' net.

The Keydets continue their four-game road stretch at High Point next Saturday, taking on the Panthers at 7 p.m.
