VMI returns home to face USC Upstate

LEXINGTON, Va. – Looking to bounce back from Thursday night's loss at No. 3 Duke, the VMI women's soccer team faces a quick turnaround as the Keydets will face USC Upstate Sunday afternoon in Lexington.
 
Kick-off is set for a 1 p.m. start at Patchin Field.

About the Spartans (2-3-1)
SC Upstate finds itself with a pair of wins and three losses to go with a tie thus far in the early going.  After defeating crosstown rival Wofford by a 1-0 score in the season opener, the Spartans fell by a 3-0 score at Davidson before losing a close 2-1 game to Eastern Kentucky on the road.
 
Upstate also has a loss to an ACC powerhouse as the Spartans fell by a 9-0 score at Louisville on August 28. Upstate then defeated Queens by a 1-0 tally and most recently earned a 2-2 tie with SoCon power Furman Thursday night in Spartanburg.
 
Dara Russo has scored all four of Upstate's goals this season, including one at Eastern Kentucky, one versus Queens and then two Thursday night against the Paladins.  Furman appeared to have earned a 2-1 victory before Russo knotted it up at 2-2 with a goal with under eight minutes to play in regulation.
