The Keydets (3-4, 0-1) look to bounce back from last week's close 13-12 loss to begin league play at Le Moyne last Saturday in Syracuse, New York. The game was a back-and-forth contest that featured eight ties and nine lead changes as the Dolphins outlasted the Keydets in the final period.

About Mercyhurst (2-7, 0-1)
The Lakers opened the 2026 season with losses to Michigan, Bellarmine and UMass Lowell before earning their first win versus Canisius on February 17.  Mercyhurst followed up with losses to Queens, Binghamton and St. Bonaventure before defeating Hampton by a 15-12 score March 7. The Lakers are coming off a 14-6 loss at Cleveland State last week to open NEC play on the road.

Colin Tardif leads the team with 16 goals and 20 points for the year while Mason Blakeman is second with 11 goals and two assists. Chase Petschke is the core distributor with nine assists thus far.

Goalie Tyler Moritzen has played all but three minutes on the season and has allowed 125 goals for a 14.29 goals-against average. He has accounted for 93 saves and owns a .427 save percentage.

All-Time Series (1-1)
The schools are split 1-1 in the all-time series after the Keydets evened the tally last season with an 18-12 win at home, VMI's first Northeast Conference victory.  The Lakers won the first ever contest between the schools back on April 26, 1997, a close 12-14 loss.
