VMI trio named NEC Prime Performers

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – After an excellent showing in VMI's hard-fought 13-12 loss at Le Moyne Saturday, a trio of VMI lacrosse players were named Prime Performers by the Northeast Conference Monday.
 
Dayton Bagwell, Beau Durkin and Will Gormsen were all named Prime Performers as three of the 12 represented for the category in the weekly league honors.


 
Bagwell scored four goals on 11 shot attempts, including nine on frame, and picked up a groundball in addition to causing one turnover. With four goals on the day, he now has 70 goals for his VMI career - just the 18th Keydet in program history to reach the mark – with 1.5 years to play to keep climbing the list.
 
Gormsen scored three goals on the day to record his first ever hat trick as a Keydet. The Leawood, Kansas, native also had three assists to total six points during the contest, a new career high. The senior totaled seven shot attempts, including five on frame, while picking up three groundballs in the best game of his career.
 
Beau Durkin registered five assists in the conference opener to play a key role in directing the VMI attack. The Castle Dale, Colorado, native also logged four shot attempts and picked up two groundballs.
 
The Keydets continue Northeast Conference action this week on the road as they travel to Erie, Pennsylvania, to take on Mercyhurst Saturday at 1 p.m.
