Women’s T&F opens strong at VMI Winter Relays

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI women's track and field team is off to a good start at the 2026 VMI Winter Relays at the Corps Physical Training Facility following the first day of the event

Sophomore Naturale Faison led the way in the 60m preliminary as she placed third in 7.66 seconds to qualify for the finals Saturday.

In the high jump, junior Morgan Fraser came in fourth with a height of 1.60 meters, a season-best mark.

Excellent Marks
* Diamond Baker came in fifth place in the shot put with a distance of 11.90 meters
* Senior Shea Hart finished sixth in the 60m hurdles preliminary with a season-best mark of 8.92 seconds to qualify for the Saturday finals
* JeNiya White also qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdles by placing eighth in 8.98 seconds
* In the DMR, the team of Olivia Hurd, Taliyah Headman, Evelyn Anderson and Samantha Layton finished eighth in 13:36.12

"On the women's side, Naturale Faison advanced in the 60, Shea Hart and JeNiya White moved on in the hurdles, and Morgan Fraser delivered points in the high jump. Day one set the tone for us. The men got us on the board early—Rae Tazewell and Elisha Williams scored strong in the shot put, Nicholas Russo picked up points in the 5K and our DMR group battled well. The energy in the facility was excellent, and we're excited to come back Saturday and keep building."
