Keydets prepare to host Saint Francis

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI women's soccer team returns to Lexington to host Saint Francis (Pa.) for its final non-conference game of the season Sunday at 2 p.m. at Patchin Field.

Last Time Out: George Washington 2, VMI 1 - Thursday, Sept. 11
The Keydets (0-7-1) look to bounce back from a close loss Thursday to George Washington as the Keydets fell by a 2-1 score to the Revs in Washington, D.C. 
 
Down 2-0, the Keydets got on the board midway through the opening half when sophomore Madeline Karsonovich scored her first career goal at VMI to cut into the early deficit. VMI battled hard throughout the second half to match with an equalizer but could not find the back of the net.
 
About the Red Flash (0-4-2)
Saint Francis also enters Sunday's contest looking for its first victory of the year although the Red Flash have earned two results on the year by way of ties with Cleveland State and Robert Morris. SFU is coming off a scoreless draw with Robert Morris this past Sunday at home. The Red Flash have picked up losses this season to the likes of Maryland, Duquesne, Toledo and Bucknell.
 
Riley Kerr and Raine Korpics lead the team in goals with one apiece on the season while Kaitlyn Dempster has logged one assist. Korpics also leads the team with seven shot attempts on the year.
 
Emma Sawich has played all 535 minutes in the box for Saint Francis and has recorded 55 saves and a .775 save percentage for the season. She was named an NEC Prime Performer this past week.
