Keydets battle, fall to Revs in DC

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Despite cutting the deficit to one goal after falling behind 2-0, the VMI women's soccer team could not quite complete the rally as host George Washington escaped with a 2-1 victory Thursday afternoon at GW Soccer Field in Washington, D.C.
 
VMI sophomore Madeline Karsonovich scored her first career goal at VMI in the 24th minute (23:59) when she took a cross from freshman Mackenzie Hobik and sent it home to cut the deficit to 2-1 midway through the opening half.
 
Game Summary
*George Washington's Kate McGrath put the Revs up early in the eighth minute of the match (7:55) when she took a pass from Amelia Booth and snuck it past VMI keeper Leslie Surita-Perez
*The Revs' Kalia Kau earned the game-winning goal in the 16th minute (15:05) when she took a cross from Booth and knocked it past Surita-Perez for a quick 2-0 lead
*Karsonovich put the Keydets on the board with her goal to initiate the VMI rally
