Nine VMI Track Athletes Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

LEXINGTON, Va. – After an excellent track and field season, nine VMI cadet-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Division I Academic All-District Team for their efforts on the track and field as well as the classroom.

Division I Men's Track and Field CSC Academic All-District
Division I Women's Track and Field CSC Academic All-District

In order to qualify for the team, an athlete must be at least a sophomore in class standing, participate in more than 50 percent of the team's contests and hold a 3.5 or greater cumulative grade point average.

A school may nominate up to five student-athletes per men's and/or women's team.

The following were recognized on the VMI men's track and field/cross country squad:

Brian Tavenner

The following were recognized on the VMI women's track and field/cross country team:

Ella Flickinger

The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes track & field/cross country honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 28 (women) and June 29 (men) following a vote from CSC members.
