Snyder, Soderholm Named Stats Perform All-Americans

Full Stats Perform Press Release

CHICAGO - A few days after Hero Sports named its FCS All-America football teams, Stats Perform came out with its own listing announced Monday morning which featured VMI junior linebacker Stone Snyder and senior long snapper Robert Soderholm.

Snyder was named to the All-America Second Team defensive unit while Soderholm was listed with the Third Team Special Teams grouping.

Snyder earned First Team All-Southern Conference honors in 2021 for a second straight year and was recognized by the media as the SoCon Defensive Player of the Year. He led the league in tackles for the second straight season averaging 10.9 per game and as he totaled 120 for the year (49 solo, 71 assisted). Snyder led the team in tackles for loss (11 for 36 yards), sacks (4), quarterback hurries (5) and fumble recoveries with three. He was named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week Sept. 27 after a season-best 19 tackles against Wofford and was also selected to the 2021 Buck Buchanan Top 25 Watch list for the second straight year.

Soderholm had a 100 percent success rate on his snaps for all punts and field goal attempts this season. He was credited by the VMI special teams coaches with an 86 percent mark for perfect snaps on punt attempts and a 94 percent perfect snap rate on field goal opportunities. He also had no snaps that required the holder to come out of his stance or the punter to have to leap or aggressively adjust to catch the snap. Soderholm also logged two tackles on the season with the punting unit on the field.

The team has 110 players representing all 15 conferences and 60 schools.

North Dakota State and James Madison lead the way with six selections each, followed by Montana with five, including three first-team choices. The first team includes the players invited to the upcoming announcements of the national players of the year: the Walter Payton Award with quarterbacks Eric Barriere of Eastern Washington and 2020-21 recipient Cole Kelley of Southeastern Louisiana and ETSU running back Quay Holmes, and the Buck Buchanan Award with linebackers Troy Andersen of Montana State and Patrick O'Connell of Montana and Florida A&M defensive end/linebacker Isaiah Land.
