COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The VMI football team fell by a 66-14 score to #9 Tennessee Tech Saturday afternoon in Cookeville, Tennessee.

Trailing just 7-0 after the first quarter, the Keydets allowed another Tennessee Tech score before cutting the deficit to 14-7 following a 37-yard touchdown rush by junior Leo Boehling with 6:59 to go before the half. The rush marked a season-best distance for Boehling to put VMI on the board.

The Golden Eagles struck back quickly for another touchdown just 20 seconds after VMI's score to put TTU up 21-7 with 6:40 to go in the half. Tennessee Tech would take advantage of two VMI turnovers over the final 6:00 of the second quarter to put up three more touchdowns before halftime to give the Golden Eagles a commanding 42-7 lead at the break.

VMI kept fighting and put together a 5-play, 32-yard drive late in the third quarter and cut the deficit to 49-14 when quarterback JoJo Crump found receiver Cade Cox for a 17-yard touchdown reception with 2:25 left in the period.  The score marked the senior's first career touchdown reception as he started his VMI career as a quarterback for two years.

Tennessee Tech would finish the fourth quarter with a pair of touchdowns and a field for the game's final tally of 66-14 for the Golden Eagles.

Boehling led the VMI rushing attack with 81 net yards on the day while receiver Cole Varner led the team with a 41-yard catch. Crump finished the game throwing 4-7 for 64 yards but threw two interceptions.
