LEXINGTON, Va. – After a strong indoor season that the Keydets saw improvement week after week, the VMI track and field teams will send several team members to the IC4A/ECAC Championships this Friday through Sunday, March 1-3, at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
The men's distance medley relay of Gavin Jenkins, Rafael Mas, Adam Waite and Jahanzib Shahbaz will kick it off for the Keydets in the DMR preliminaries Saturday at about 1 p.m. following the 5000 sections. With an excellent performance, the foursome will have the opportunity to compete in the finals for the event slated for Sunday at 11 a.m.
Sophomore Ariana Ruffin and freshman Eliza Brooks will race in the women's 400-meter trials on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. The finals for the event will take place Sunday at approximately 12:25 p.m. in the afternoon.
Junior Sarah Leckman will compete in the women's shot put on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. shortly before Blaine Ashton of the men's team will compete in the triple jump at 9:30 a.m.
