ANDERSON, S.C. – VMI Men's and Women's Track & Field had a successful first day of the Electric City Invitational hosted by Anderson University on Friday.
Between the two programs, the Keydets had two podium marks, along with three top-10 finishes.
Earning gold in pole vault was
Cameron Thomas, reaching a leap of 5.00 meters (16' 4.75").
Deonte Harris picked up second place in the triple jump after a 14.23-meter (46' 8.25") fly on his first attempt, just a tenth of a meter shy of first place.
On the women's side,
Reagan Gilman highlighted VMI with a relentless second-place finish in the mile. Gilman scored silver with a 5:00.61 mark. Director of Track & Field
Zack Scott said, "Down 30 meters, [Reagan] Gilman refused to fold - she hunted, caught, and won."
Rounding out VMI men's top-10 finishers was
Grayson Talbott in the javelin throw, recording a toss of 42.98 meters.
Ruth Dickersheid placed in the top 10 for the women with an eighth-place finish in the javelin throw with a launch of 25.69 meters.
