Campbell Rallies for 2-1 Win over Women?s Soccer

BUIES CREEK, N.C.- Olga Ekblom's goal in the 68th minute provided the difference as Campbell came back to defeat VMI, 2-1, in non-conference women's soccer action at the Eakes Athletic Complex on Saturday.

The Keydets (1-3) jumped on top just before intermission, as Christelle Ndongo was fouled in the box in the 45th minute.  Chrissy Beach converted the resulting penalty kick with a shot into the left side of the net to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage.

The Camels (3-3) answered in the 58th minute, knotting the score when Hanna Salmen converted a rebound off of Ekblom's shot from the right flank.  Ekblom followed 10 minutes later with the game-winner, dribbling into the box and unleashing a low shot that found the back of the net off a diagonal pass from Marisa Muller.

The Keydets managed just two more shots in the game's final 22 minutes, with the best opportunity coming in the 86th minute, when Camel goalie Jamie Panfil stopped Beach's shot to preserve the lead.

Keydet keeper Heidi Beemer made nine saves in net while playing 74 minutes before being relieved by Angela Redmond.  Panfil, meanwhile, made five stops to snap Campbell's two-game losing skid.

Campbell held a 19-9 advantage in shots in the contest, including an 11-6 edge in shots on goal.  Each team was whistled for eight offsides calls, while Campbell held a slight, 7-5 lead in corner kicks.

The Keydets return to action on Monday afternoon, heading north to take on Delaware State at 1 p.m.
