Hobik named to SoCon All-Tournament Team

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Following her performance and effort in VMI's hard-fought loss to UNCG in the opening round of the SoCon Tournament, VMI freshman Mackenzie Hobik was named to the SoCon All-Tournament Team, the league announced Saturday afternoon.
 
Hobik played in 19 games during the season and started 16 as a true freshman accounting for two goals and two assists for a team-high six points for the season.
 
"Mack had a great first season here at VMI," said VMI Head Coach Jim Robbins. "She was consistent from game to game, did a great job of possessing the ball and building our attack from the back, and also contributed to the attack with a couple great goals and some timely passes. I look forward to seeing how she develops over the next couple years here."
 
She scored a goal off a free kick to help lift VMI to a 3-1 win over Saint Francis on September 14, then scored her second goal of the year in a hard-fought 4-2 loss at SoCon power Samford on October 10.  The Perry Hall, Maryland, native also had an assist in games at George Washington on September 11 and versus Furman in the SoCon home opener on September 21.
 
Hobik took 14 shots on the year – including 10 on frame – and played over 1,000 minutes during the course of the season in her rookie debut.
 
Hobik did not account for any stats in VMI's 2-0 loss to UNCG on October 28 at the tournament but played with a high amount of energy and effort in her 61 minutes on the pitch.
