LEXINGTON, Va. – After months of preparation since the end of track and field in the spring, the VMI cross country teams are set to open the 2026 season Saturday at the Richmond Spider Alumni Open hosted by the University of Richmond.
 
The men's 6K race will begin at approximately 9:08 a.m. and the women's 4K race is slated for a 9:50 a.m. start at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Virginia.
   
The meet is the debut event for VMI first-year Director of Track and Field and Cross Country LaRon Bennett.
 
The VMI women are led by seniors Jillian Sisk and Evelyn Anderson in addition to junior Reagan Gilman. The VMI men are paced by senior Colin Crenshaw, juniors Peter Fiorillo and Camden Gonzales and sophomores Timothy Renquist and Cameron Lambert.
