VMI Cross Country reveals 2026 slate

LEXINGTON, Va. – First-year VMI Director of Track and Field and Cross Country LaRon Bennett announced Tuesday his cross country program's 2026 schedule.
 
For the fifth year in a row, the Keydets will begin the season at the Spider Alumni Open hosted by the University of Richmond September 5 at Pole Green Park in Richmond.
 
The following two meets will have the Keydets travel north to Winchester, Virginia, on Friday, September 11 for the Shenandoah Twilight followed by the JMU Invitational on September 25 in New Market.
 
VMI will make a return trip to Richmond to begin the month of October at the Richmond Invitational on Friday, October 2. Two weeks later, the Keydets again head northeast on I-64 to compete at the Panorama Farms Invitational set for October 16 hosted by the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
 
Ready for a league battle, the Keydets will head south to Mill Spring, North Carolina, for the Southern Conference Championship race on Saturday, October 31 at the Tryon International Equestrian Center.
 
Select VMI athletes will conclude the season competing at the NCAA Southeast Regional Friday, November 13, in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Friday, Sept. 25 – JMU Invitational – 5 p.m. – New Market, Va.
Friday, Oct. 2 – Richmond Invitational – 9 a.m. – Richmond, Va.
Friday, Oct. 16 – Panorama Farms Invitational – 9:30 a.m. – Charlottesville, Va.
Saturday, Oct. 31 – Southern Conference Championship – 9 a.m. – Mill Spring, N.C.
Friday, Nov. 13 – NCAA Southeast Regional – 9:30 a.m. – Spartanburg, S.C.
