Women’s Soccer opens 2026 campaign at George Mason

LEXINGTON, Va. – After a successful fall camp, the VMI women's soccer team opens the 2026 season with a road contest at George Mason Thursday night in Fairfax, Virginia.

Kick-off is set for a 7 p.m. start at George Mason Stadium.

The Keydets are looking for a strong start to the season led by sophomore Mackenzie Hobik, who led the team in points a year ago with six on two goals and two assists. Junior Madeline Karsonovich also scored two goals for the season to go with one assist as another key player on the offensive side of the pitch.

Bailey Reid, Rachel Baez, Natalie Centurione, Isabella Franco and Samantha Uschold each had one goal for the season while Paige Becker and Gianna De Cicco both tallied an assist. Franco led the team in shot attempts last season with 23 and Hobik ranked fourth with 14.

Sophomore Maren Ryberg started all 19 matches last season and logged over 1500 minutes in the cage. She earned a 3.07 goals-against average and totaled 143 saves, a program record for a single season.

The Patriots finished with a 4-10-4 overall record in 2025 and a 3-5-2 mark in the A-10 Conference.

Senior Molly Starner is the leading returner on the offensive side after scoring five goals in 2025 while fellow senior Mia Arevalo-Delcid is another core returner having registered one goal and two assists a year ago.

Goalkeeper Libby Davy was the sole goalie who started all 18 matches and played every minute (1620:00) of the season in 2025. She allowed 25 goals for a 1.39 goals-against average to go with 73 saves and logged four shutouts during the season.
