Track & Field to compete at Virginia Challenge this weekend

LEXINGTON, Va. – Following a successful JMU Invite last week, the VMI track and field teams will again face elite competition this weekend when the Keydets head to the 2026 Virginia Challenge hosted by the University of Virginia Friday and Saturday at Lannigan Field in Charlottesville.

Junior Morgan Fraser will kick off the competition for VMI when she competes in the high jump at 3 p.m. Friday. Reagan Gilman will also compete Friday in the 800 meter invitational slated for 6:20 p.m. later in the evening. Last week at JMU, Gilman broke her own school record in the 800m in 2:10.50, breaking her prior record of 2:12.24 set as a freshman in 2025.

Several cadet-athletes resume competition Saturday against top Division I talent from power conferences and high-level NCAA track and field programs.

A full rundown of VMI athletes competing this weekend is seen below.

VMI Director of Track and Field Zack Scott
