Cameron Thomas is listed No. 1 in the SoCon pole vault at 5.11m, and Deonte Harris is listed at No. 1 in the triple jump at 14.55m. Rye Jackson is No. 5 in the 400m at 48.57, while Zachary Denton is No. 6 in the long jump at 7.00m.

Harris won the triple jump at the SoCon Indoor Championships in February while Denton won the long jump as individual champion for the respective events.  After sustaining an injury, Thomas placed second in the pole vault at the SoCon indoor meet.

VMI Director of Track and Field Zack Scott
"Our men are heading into the Southern Conference Championship with a group that has continued to compete, improve, and put itself in position to score across several event areas. Cameron Thomas in the pole vault and Deonte Harris in the triple jump give us two athletes sitting at the top of the conference list, and both have earned the right to compete for a championship.

"We also have strong scoring opportunities with Rye Jackson in the 400, Zachary Denton in the long jump, Halim Hardnett in the high jump, Elisha Williams and Tazewell Rae in the throws, Isaiah Blount in the javelin, and our steeplechase group with Camden Gonzales, Timothy Renquist, and Colin Crenshaw.

"At this point in the season, it is about being confident, competing with discipline, and taking advantage of every opportunity to score points for VMI. Harris is also positioned in the 110 hurdles, where he is listed No. 6 at 14.97, and VMI has additional scoring opportunities with Hardnett in the high jump, Williams in the shot put, Blount in the javelin, and the steeplechase group just outside the current scoring positions."
