Men’s Track and Field starts strong at App State

BOONE, N.C. – The VMI men's track and field team is off to a great start following the first day of action at the John Weaver Invitational hosted by App State University in Boone, North Carolina.

Junior Cameron Thomas led the way with the best finish of the day by placing second in the pole vault with a height of 4.87 meters. He was followed by Tyrus James in fourth at 3.82m and Jesse Vaughn in fifth at 3.67 meters.
 
Vahin Middough came in fourth in the high jump at 1.85 meters, while senior Isaiah Blount finished fourth in the javelin throw at 44.88 meters. Freshman Grayson Talbott came in seventh in the javelin at 40.54m.
 
Sophomore Camden Gonzales had the best finish in the steeple in sixth in 10:14.70 – a new PR – while Timothy Renquist (7th, 10:16) and Colin Crenshaw (8th, 10:26) were right behind.
 
Tazewell Rae showed well in the hammer throw in 10th place at 41.33 meters.
