Women’s T&F earns top marks at VMI Winter Classic

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI women's track and field team earned excellent marks and several top finishes Saturday on Senior Day at the VMI Winter Classic held at the Corps Physical Training Facility.

Reagan Gilman and Jillian Sisk also represented the program well at the Darius Dixon Invite hosted by Liberty University. Facing top Division I competition, Gilman broke her own school record in the 800 meter with a sixth-place finish in 2:11.81, topping her previous record of 2:13.42 from the 2025 SoCon Indoor Championship.

"Reagan delivered an outstanding performance in the women's 800 meters," said VMI Director of Track and Field Zack Scott. "After the cancellation of the meet at Virginia Tech this weekend, Reagan stayed focused making the most of the opportunity to compete at Liberty.

"Breaking the school record is a testament to her work ethic and commitment to improvement. We're proud of the way she competed and represented our program, and this performance positions her well as we prepare for the Southern Conference Championship."

Sisk finished 10th overall in the mile run in 5:10.91.

VMI( Director of Track and Field Zack Scott
"Our women battled for every point today and finished seventh with 26 points—and what I'm proudest of is how balanced the scoring was across the meet. Shea Hart delivered a big performance in the long jump, our high jump group stacked points with Morgan Fraser and Genevieve Cummings, and our throwers showed toughness with Diamond Baker and Ruth Dickersheild scoring in the shot and weight.

"On the track, Taliyah Headman and Hayden Talbott added key points. That's a team showing up for each other—exactly what we want heading into the next phase of the season."
