Women's Soccer announces 2025 schedule

First-year Head Coach Jim Robbins welcomes challenge of facing Duke on top of SoCon schedule

LEXINGTON, Va. – Heading into his first season at the helm of the program, VMI Head Women's Soccer Coach Jim Robbins announced Friday his team's 2025 schedule.
 
The slate is highlighted by a trip to ACC power Duke University on September 4 in addition to other non-conference matchups with Richmond, Elon, Winthrop, USC Upstate and George Washington.
 
After an exhibition game at Radford on Sunday, August 10, the regular season begins Thursday, August 14 at home against the Spiders of the University of Richmond on Patchin Field. Following two road matches at Elon and Longwood, the Keydets return home for matchups with Winthrop and UNC Asheville to close the month of August.
 
"This fall's schedule will be very competitive and will be a great test for us as we enter this next phase of the program's evolution," Robbins said. "The non-conference slate features some strong regional opponents highlighted by our away trip to Duke in early September.  The SoCon schedule is always very challenging, and our goal is to move up in the regular season conference standings to see if we can earn our place in the final four in the conference tournament." 
 
September features back-and-forth action beginning with the showdown at Duke before taking on USC Upstate in Lexington. The Keydets then head up to Washington, D.C. to face George Washington on September 11 before returning home to face St. Francis (Pa.).
 
The SoCon schedule starts on the road at UNCG on September 18 before VMI faces Furman (Sept. 21) and The Citadel (Sept. 28) consecutive weekends to wrap up the month.
 
VMI travels to 2024 SoCon champion Western Carolina on Thursday, October 2 before hosting Mercer October 5 in Lexington.
 
The final three weeks of the regular season features only one home game against Wofford on October 16. The Keydets will face road challenges at Samford (Oct.10) and Chattanooga (Oct. 19) before stepping out of conference for a game at Gardner-Webb on October 22.
 
The regular season wraps up at ETSU on Sunday, October 26 ahead of the Southern Conference Tournament set to begin Tuesday, October 28.
