VMI prepares for SoCon Outdoor T&F Championships

LEXINGTON, Va. - The VMI track and field teams look to continue a successful 2025 outdoor season when the Keydets travel to Birmingham, Alabama, to compete at the Southern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship hosted by Samford University Monday and Tuesday, May 12-13 at the Shauna Yelton Field at The Samford Track and Soccer Stadium.

Action begins Monday with the men's decathlon as freshman Rye Jackson will compete with the best multi-athletes in the conference beginning at 11 a.m.

In an outdoor season filled with new school records and personal best, the Keydets look to finish the 2025 season strong with excellent marks against the top athletes in the conference.

Shea Hart and JeNiya White will represent the women's team in the heptathlon beginning at 11:15 a.m.

Senior distance runner Patrick Kiernan will end the opening day running the 10,000 meter starting at 8:20 p.m.
