VMI Women going strong at SoCon T&F Championships

LEXINGTON, Va. – After a great opening day, the VMI women's track and field team presently finds itself in sixth place at the 2025 Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by VMI Friday at the Corps Physical Training Facility.
 
The VMI women are currently in sixth place with 25 points. Wofford is in the lead with 58 points with Samford (45) and Furman (35) close behind with Saturday's final rounds still to go.
 
VMI All-Conference honors
*Junior Shea Hart earned All-SoCon honors in the pentathlon by placing second through the five events with 3,429 points. Wofford's Olivia Bagg won the multi-event with 3,658 points
*VMI's Morgan Fraser achieved All-SoCon honors in the high jump by tying for second place with Wofford's Sherika Christie at a height of 1.65 meters
 
Day One Excellence
*Senior Eleyah Armstrong is in great standing in the 60m finals Saturday after placing first in the prelims with a first-place time of 7.48 seconds, a season-best
*Freshman Naturale Faison came in third in the 60m prelims in 7.70 seconds to also qualify for the final round Saturday
*Armstrong finished third in the 200m prelims to qualify for Saturday's final round in 24.80 seconds. Faison (25.08) and SeMore Green (25.31) also qualified in sixth and eighth place, respectively
*Freshman Reagan Gilman broke a school record in the 800m prelims by recording a PR time of 2:14.82 in fifth place to qualify for the final round Saturday.
*Diamond Baker came in seventh in the shot put at 11.67 meters
*The DMR team of Natalia Dias, Heaven Hall, Evelyn Anderson and Jillian Sisk placed fifth overall in 12:41.75
