VMI Lacrosse unveils 2026 schedule
 
LEXINGTON, Va. – After an excellent fall season of implementing new schemes and acclimating the program to a new regime, VMI first-year Head Lacrosse Coach Taylor Mendoza announced Tuesday his team's 2026 schedule.
 
The Keydets look to continue the upward rise of the program after earning an impressive 10-4 record this past 2025 season.
 
VMI will open with two exhibitions against great competition starting on the road at Richmond on January 16 before hosting Mount St. Mary's on January 24.
 
The first official contest of the 2026 campaign will take place Sunday, February 1 at home against St. Bonaventure up on Drill Field #2 at noon.
 
After a road trip to High Point on Saturday, February 7, the Keydets will play host to Mercer on Valentine's Day in an early 11 a.m. matchup.
 
VMI then embarks on a three-game road trip starting at the Naval Academy Tuesday, February 17, before traveling to Hampton (Feb. 21) and Queens (Feb. 28) on consecutive Saturdays.
 
After three weeks away from home, the Keydets will host their final non-conference matchup of the season when they host Monmouth Saturday, March 7 at 12 p.m.
 
VMI's quest to qualify for the Northeast Conference Tournament begins on the road Saturday, March 14 at Le Moyne and at Mercyhurst the following weekend, March 21.
 
The Keydets will host Cleveland State (Mar. 28) and Robert Morris (Apr. 4) on consecutive weekends to continue the NEC grind.
 
After a league road contest at LIU Saturday, April 11, VMI will host one more NEC opponent when Wagner (Apr. 18) visits Lexington for a 12 p.m. contest. The Keydets finish the regular season at Detroit Mercy April 25.
 
Only four schools qualify for the NEC Tournament, which is slated to begin Thursday, April 30 with the semifinals ahead of the title game on Saturday, May 2.
