VMI falls to Cleveland State

LEXINGTON, Va. – Down 10-4 at the break, the VMI lacrosse team was unable to mount a second-half comeback as visiting Cleveland State earned a 20-7 win over the Keydets Saturday afternoon at Drill Field 2.

The Keydets (4-5, 1-2) got off to a quick start with a Jack Duncan-Bloom goal just 29 seconds into the game, but the Vikings (5-4, 2-1) rebounded with three straight goals over a three-minute span and never looked back en route to their conference road victory.

Cleveland State proved systematic in their scoring approach by putting in five goals each period to gradually pull away. The Vikings led 15-7 after three periods and did not allow another VMI goal in the fourth quarter for the final 20-7 tally.
