About Cleveland State (3-5)
The Vikings have played a difficult schedule with losses coming to the likes of Denver, #10 Ohio State, Bellarmine and Marquette to open the season. CSU then went on a three-game winning streak to top Canisius, St. Bonaventure and Mercyhurst before falling to NEC co-leader Robert Morris this past weekend by an 11-6 score.

Brennen Hickey leads the team in goals by a wide margin with 18 for the year while Creed McDonald ranks second with 10. Hickey also has seven assists to lead the squad with 25 points and Adam Van Voorhis has 19 points on eight goals and team-high 11 assists.

Goalies Oliver Vanyo (218 minutes) and Justin Dalum (253 minutes) have split time equally in the cage. Vanyo (3-1) has started the last four games after Dalum (0-4) played the first four against top competition.

All-Time Series (1-4)
VMI won for the first time ever against the Vikings last season when the Keydets went up to Cleveland and achieved an 11-9 win over the host to snap a four-game losing streak. With the all-time series only dating back to 2021, the Vikings had come out victorious in all four previous encounters.

Last Time Out: VMI 19, Mercyhurst 13 – Saturday, March 21 – Erie, Pa.
The VMI lacrosse team opened with a huge first period with seven goals and never looked back as the Keydets earned a hard-fought 19-13 Northeast Conference victory over host Mercyhurst last Saturday in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Jack Duncan-Bloom finished with a career-high six goals – including a hat trick in the opening period – to earn NEC Player of the Week honors. Freshman Ethan Ostrowski was named the NEC Rookie of the Week after scoring  four goals and teammates Beau Durkin and Dayton Bagwell both ended up with a hat trick as the Keydets totaled 19 goals for the contest.
