VMI concludes regular season at ETSU

LEXINGTON, Va. – Coming off a big win in a non-conference game Wednesday at Gardner-Webb, the VMI women's soccer team looks to finish the regular season on a strong note Sunday when the Keydets face ETSU at 2 p.m. in Johnson City, Tennessee.
 
VMI will learn its SoCon Tournament opening round foe shortly afterwards. The Keydets will enter the tournament as the No. 10 seed, which begins Tuesday. VMI will face the No. 7 seed, which 4-5 schools are in the running to finish based on Sunday's results.

Series History (1-9-2)
The Bucs have won the last four games in a row in the all-time series as VMI looks to snap the streak. The teams played to a draw in both 2019 and Spring 2021, and the Keydets earned their sole victory in the series in 2017 with a 1-0 win at Patchin Field.
 
About ETSU (8-3-6, 3-1-4)
The Bucs started off hot in conference play by earning a result in its first seven league games going 3-0-4 with wins over The Citadel, UNCG and Wofford. ETSU is coming off a 3-0 loss on the road at Samford this past Sunday and will be looking for a win at home to conclude the regular season against VMI Sunday afternoon.
 
Reagan Fitzgerald leads the team with nine goals for the year and tied for the team lead with three assists for 21 total points on the season. She also leads the squad by a large margin in shot attempts with 68 with one game remaining for the regular season.
 
Jada Cooper ranks second with four goals while Ruby Teixeira and Ava Duffey both have a pair. Cooper, Teixeira and Grace Eatz all share three assists on the year to share the team lead with Fitzgerald.
 
Addison Yelton has played all but 104 minutes on the year and has allowed just 13 goals on the season for a 0.82 goals-against average. Her seven individual wins have all been shutouts and she owns 38 saves for the year.
