Keydets step out of league play to face Gardner-Webb

LEXINGTON, Va. – In the final week of the 2025 regular season, the VMI women's soccer team will take a quick step out of conference to take on Big South member Gardner-Webb Wednesday night in Boiling Springs, North Carolina.
 
Kick-off is set for a 4 p.m. start at Greene-Harbison Stadium.

The Keydets look to pick up some momentum for their final conference game this Sunday at ETSU and next week's Southern Conference Tournament.
 
Last Time Out: Chattanooga 3, VMI 0 – Sunday, Oct. 19 – Chattanooga, Tenn.
Down 1-0 at the half, the Keydets continued to show fight in the second half but could not overcome the Chattanooga attack as the Mocs would go on to score two more goals in the latter stanza en route to a 3-0 victory on their home turf.
 
Series History (3-7-1)
The Keydets earned a 2-1 victory at home against the Bulldogs in 2024 to snap a three-game losing streak to Gardner-Webb. As Big South colleagues with GWU from 2003-14, the Keydets took two wins from the Bulldogs out of eight contests to go with a tie in what has historically been a close battle in 11 previous outings.
 
About the Bulldogs (4-7-3, 3-1-2)
Gardner-Webb will be looking for its first victory against a SoCon opponent this season after going 0-3 in matches against Wofford, The Citadel and Mercer.  After losing to Longwood in Big South action, the Bulldogs have won three of the past five games to go with a pair of ties.  GWU is coming off a 1-0 victory over USC Upstate this past Saturday.
 
Olivia Tribolet leads the team with four goals on the year and an assist for nine combined points. Ila Allred has put in two scores, and 10 others have each logged one goal for the year. Camila Lezcano leads the team with 23 shot attempts on the season.
 
Savannah Dixon has played all but 30 minutes on the season in the goalbox and has allowed 19 goals for a 1.39 goals-against average. She has also registered 81 saves and owns five shutouts this season.
