Women’s Soccer off to Chattanooga for Sunday contest

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI women's soccer team looks to pick up an elusive conference game victory when the Keydets travel to Chattanooga, Tennessee, Sunday to face the Mocs of UT Chattanooga.
 
Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. at Finley Stadium.

About Chattanooga (8-4-4, 2-2-3)
The Mocs currently find themselves in fifth place in the Southern Conference standings with two league wins despite having eight total wins on the season. The Mocs have defeated Mercer and Wofford this season while falling to Samford and The Citadel. Chattanooga has also drawn three times with league foes UNCG, ETSU and most recently to Furman by a 1-1 score Thursday night at home.
 
Caroline Richvalsky and Paige Thomas lead the team with eight goals apiece on the season while Quinn Johnson and Nicole Solete both have three. Zoey Mize also plays a key role in the offense and leads the squad with six assists for the year while Richvalsky is close behind with five helpers.
 
Caroline Ekern has started all 16 matches and played all 1440 minutes to this point of the season. She has allowed 20 goals for a 1.25 goals-against average to go with 39 saves (.661).
 
All-Time Series (5-6-2)
Although the Keydets opened the all-time series with a 5-0-2 record from 2014-18, the Mocs have rattled of six straight wins since 2019 and now hold a slight advantage with six wins to VMI's five. Last season, the Mocs earned a 3-1 victory at Patchin Field on October 20, 2024.
 
Last Time Out: Wofford 2, VMI 0 – Thursday, October 16
Despite trailing by just one in the shots category by a 10-9 count, the Keydets were unable to find the back of the net as visiting Wofford earned a 2-0 victory Thursday night on Drill Field 2 for the team's annual Breast Cancer Awareness game.
