Keydets head to Cullowhee to face Western Carolina

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI women's soccer team looks to bounce back from a tough loss to The Citadel this past Sunday as the Keydets head to Cullowhee, North Carolina, to face the Catamounts of Western Carolina University Thursday night.
 
Kick-off is set for a 7 p.m. start at Catamount Athletic Complex.

The Keydets look to earn their first ever win over the Catamounts as WCU has won all 12 contests dating back to 2014 when VMI rejoined the Southern Conference.
 
About the Catamounts (5-4-3, 1-1-1)
Western Carolina has claimed wins over the likes of High Point, NC State, Winthrop and UNC Wilmington in a difficult non-conference slate. Although competitive matches, the Catamounts have fallen to App State, #2 Tennessee and most recently to league foe Furman by a 1-0 score.
 
Sofia Goclowski and Ava Robitaille lead the team with three goals apiece while Isabella DeMarco and Milla Syska both have two. Six others have logged one goal on the year. DeMarco and Sysko both have two assists thus far.
 
Goalie Leanne Trudel has played all 1080 minutes in the box and owns 55 saves and a .786 save percentage through 12 matches played.
 
Last Time Out: The Citadel 2, VMI 0 - Sunday, Sept. 28
The Keydets played a competitive match against rival The Citadel this past Sunday at home but came up short as the Bulldogs escaped with a 2-0 win at Patchin Field.
 
Tied at 0-0 at the break, The Citadel's Alice Williamson scored twice in the second half to allow the Bulldogs to pull away.
