Women’s Track off to great start at VMI Invitational

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI women's track and field team started strong on the opening day of the 2025 VMI Invitational Friday at the Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington.

Facing athletes from over 30 schools, the Keydets earned personal records and performed well against solid competition.

Day 1 Results

Senior sprinter Eleyah Armstrong led the way for the women's team highlighted by second-place finishes in the 60 meter preliminaries and semis. She earned a 7.59 in the prelims to advance to the semis where she finished in 7.48 seconds. She will compete in the final round Saturday.

Top Performances
*Sophomore Morgan Fraser performed well in the high jump by placing second overall at a height of 1.65 meters
* The relay team of Evelyn Anderson, Gretal Shank, Olivia Hurd and Natalie Dias finished third overall in 9:47.86
*Shea Hart competed well in the 60 meter hurdles by placing fourth in the prelims in 9.03 seconds followed by a sixth-place finish in the semis in 9.01 seconds. She will compete in Saturday's final round. She also competed in the long jump and came in 12^th overall at a distance of 5.24 meters
*SeMore Green earned a ninth-place finish in the 300 meter in 41.64 seconds
* Diamond Baker finished in the 30^th place in the weight throw at 11.82 meters
