VMI opens SoCon play at home vs. UNCG

LEXINGTON, Va. – Coming off a big win over Gardner-Webb Sunday, the VMI women's soccer team opens Southern Conference play this week as the Keydets take on UNCG at home Thursday at 4 p.m. at Patchin Field.

The Keydets (4-3-1) won their fourth game of the season by defeating the Bulldogs over the weekend, their most wins since claiming seven victories in 2018. Sophomore Cameron Jones scored her first career VMI goal to knot the score at 1-1 midway through the second half before fellow sophomore Barrett Callejo earned the game-winning goal with four minutes left in regulation on a penalty kick after she was clipped from behind in the closing moments.
 
SERIES HISTORY
UNCG holds the edge in the overall series, 10-1. The Spartans took the contest last year on Oct. 22 in Greensboro, 5-1, and have won the last eight games against the Keydets.
