Women’s Soccer returns home to face Gardner-Webb

LEXINGTON, Va. – After a four-game road trip over the past three weeks, the VMI women's soccer team returns to the friendly confines of Patchin Field to face another Big South foe in Gardner-Webb University on Sunday afternoon in Lexington.

The Keydets (3-3-1) are coming off a close 2-0 loss to Winthrop Thursday night in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where the Eagles posted two goals in the second half after the schools went into halftime in a scoreless draw. The Keydets outshot the Eagles by a 9-1 margin in the opening half but could not find the back of the net.

Riley Boucher leads VMI with four goals on the year while Isabella Bruzonic, Barrett Callejo, Caroline Marini and Emma Rice have each scored one.

About Gardner-Webb (1-6-1, 0-0)
The Bulldogs opened the season with two close losses to Stetson and Boston College before rebounding with a 2-0 win over Converse, their sole victory of the 2024 season. After a 1-1 tie with The Citadel on August 28, Gardner-Webb has dropped four straight contests to Davidson, Western Carolina, Campbell and Elon.

Livi Tanzer and Anya Tribune lead the team with two goals apiece on the year while Abby Clark and Julianna Jatkola have each contributed one apiece. Lea Gossett, Carina Leal, Camila Lezcano and Myla West have all been credited with one assist each.

In the goal box, Stephanie Liu has played all but 65 minutes in the cage as she has conceded 16 goals on the year for a 2.20 goals-against average. She has logged 44 saves and a .733 save percentage having faced 110 shot attempts so far this fall.
