Water Polo lands four on MAAC All-Academic Team

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced it's Water Polo All-Academic Team on Thursday, with four cadet-athletes earning the distinction.

Courtney Novotny, Caragh Osborne, Sadie Smith and Julia Ward all competed for VMI this season while balancing military duties and maintaining at least a 3.20 GPA.

Novotny, Osborne and Ward add to their academic collection, which includes 2022-23 SoCon Commissioner's Medals that were earned last season (3.8 GPA or better).

The quartet had strong seasons for VMI, topped by Osborne's 52 assists which gave her the record for most all-time in VMI Water Polo history with 117.


Novotny had a career-high 74 goals, while Smith netted 53 and Ward was third on the team in assists with 24.
