Track and Field sends several athletes to Raleigh Relays

LEXINGTON, Va. – After a great opening to the 2024 outdoor season last weekend in Richmond, the VMI track and field teams will send multiple athletes to the prestigious Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State Thursday through Saturday, March 28-30, at the Paul Derr Track Facility in Raleigh, North Carolina.

A week after earning VMI's new school record in the men's pole vault, freshman Cameron Thomas will compete in the event Friday at 10:30 a.m. Last Friday, he registered a 16' 5.25" in the pole vault, topping the former best mark of 16' 4.75" held by JB Rosson from the 2004 outdoor season.

Eleyah Armstrong (100m, 1:45 pm), Keyandre Midgett (triple jump, 2 pm) and Rafe Clendenin (discus, 2:15 pm) are slated to compete in their respective events Friday afternoon.

On Saturday morning, Andrew Granger (hammer, 9:45 a.m.), and Armstrong (long jump, 10:30 am) will round out the competition for the Keydets at the meet. As Thursday's events have been canceled, sophomore Taylor Hill will now compete in the women's pole vault at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
