VMI Water Polo announces 2025 schedule

LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Water Polo Head Coach Danielle Montenegro announced the program's upcoming 2025 season on Wednesday.

The 2025 slate has a total of 24 games, two home tournaments, eight home games and 12 Metro Atlantic (MAAC) matchups.

"We are looking forward to starting out our season at home, with a tournament in which we are hosting eight other teams from across the country and internationally," Montenegro said. "It's great to showcase our Aquatic Center both then, and again in March where we host the entire MAAC conference. We fly out to Minnesota and to California this year to see familiar competition before we get going into conference play. Should be a great year for VMI water polo. Rah Virginia Mil!"

The Keydets kick off the 2025 season at the VMI Aquatic Center on Friday, January 31 as they host Toronto in the second installment of the VMI Invite. The Keydets will compete twice on February 1 and once on February 2nd to cap off the first weekend of play.

After a week off, VMI will travel to the Macalester Invite in Minnesota (Feb 15-17) and then visit Morgantown to take on Salem and Saint Francis (PA) on March 8.

A road trip to California (March 8-10) precedes the VMI-MAAC Showcase (March 14-16) in Lexington in which VMI hosts Mount St. Mary's, Siena, Wagner and Villanova.

A pair of trips to Philadelphia (La Salle, Villanova) sets up the final regular season weekend on Long Island, with the season finale scheduled against La Salle on April 13.

The MAAC Championships will be hosted from April 25-27 at Marist College, with the top six seeds qualifying.
