LEXINGTON, Va. – After some time off, VMI Water Polo returns to action this weekend when it faces No. 20 Brown and No. 13 Harvard on Sunday.

VMI, who sits at 6-5 overall, went 3-1 a few weeks ago at the Macalester Invite. Following the weekend,
Sydney Smith was name the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Offensive Player of the Week. The senior totaled 19 goals, including three fourth-quarter scores in a one-goal victory over host Macalester.

The Bears have an overall record of 10-6, but are tied for 20
th nationally in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Poll. Brown has gone 6-2 against MAAC Conference foes, with all six losses coming at the hands of top 25 programs. Brown is also the collegiate home of first-year assistant Claire Possonnier, who was an Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Honorable Mention All-American while competing for the Bears.

The Crimson has nearly a perfect record, sitting at 16-1 entering the weekend, with their only loss coming against No. 14 Michigan. Harvard is currently ranked 13
th in the CWPA poll, having scored victories over No. 8 Indiana, No. 22 Wagner, No. 23 California Baptist and No. 14 Princeton.
