The No. 9 seed Keydets and No. 8 seed Terriers will kick off Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at Snyder Field in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The winner will advance to face No. 1 seed Western Carolina Friday in Cullowhee, North Carolina. VMI actually tied for the No. 8 seed with Wofford but was given the No. 9 seed due to a goals differential between the teams. Both schools finished with a 1-7-1 mark in Southern Conference action this season.

Tying for the No. 8 seed is VMI's best seed entering the tournament since earning the No. 5 spot in 2017.
