Women’s Soccer hosts UNC Asheville Sunday

LEXINGTON, Va. – Looking to bounce back from its season-opening loss to Robert Morris Thursday, the VMI women's soccer team will play host to UNC Asheville Sunday at 3 p.m. on Drill Field #2.

VMI came close on several scoring opportunities in Thursday's loss as the Keydets took nine shots in the second half to RMU's 10 and matched the Colonials' three corner kicks.
 
Several Keydets took shots that required a save from the RMU keeper, including two from sophomore Riley Boucher. Late in the second half, junior Isabella Bruzonic and freshman Samantha Uschold also took shots that nearly found the back of the net.
 
About the Bulldogs
UNC Asheville is coming off a 1-0 loss to SoCon foe Western Carolina on Thursday night. While the Bulldogs were held scoreless, Addie Cooper and Taylor Gardner each took two shots while five others each had one shot attempt.
 
Goalie Gracie Murray tallied five saves facing 12 shots against the Catamounts.
 
In 2022, UNC Asheville finished with a 4-10-3 record. Gardner and Kaiya Boyd led the squad with four goals apiece on the year.
