Personal Records Fall on Day 1 of VMI Invitational

LEXINGTON, Va. - With a week to train following Christmas Furlough, the VMI track and field teams competed with much success Friday to open the VMI Invitational at the Corps Physical Training Facility.

Keyandre Midgett led the team with an incredible first day with a new personal best, winning the triple jump with a leap of 15.16m and qualifying to the 60m hurdles finals Saturday. Another Keydet-winning performance happened in the 1000m with Trent Whittaker followed by D. Alex Fiorillo in second. Fiorillo had a three-second improvement to set a new personal best time.

In the 5000 meter, Richard Edwards came in fourth with a new PR of 1:04.61 and Xander Topos arrived in sixth with a new PR of 1:04.85.
