Women’s Soccer Splits Pair of Matches this Weekend

LEXINGTON, Va. – Following a hard-fought match with UMBC in last Saturday's home opener, the VMI women's soccer team will split a pair of games this week as the Keydets host Morehead State Thursday evening before facing Ohio University Sunday afternoon on the road.
 
VMI will face the Eagles Thursday at 4 p.m. at Patchin Field before traveling to Athens, Ohio, for a tilt with the Bobcats Sunday at 1 p.m. to continue non-conference action.
 
Redshirt freshman Sedona Dancu leads the Keydets with two goals on the year while freshman Caroline Marini has accounted for one assist.
 

LAST TIME ON THE PITCH 
The Keydets (0-4) fell by a 2-0 count to visiting UMBC last Saturday at Patchin Field. The Retrievers scored twice in the opening period before the Keydets held tight in the second to prevent additional scores. VMI fought back in the latter half to outshoot the Retrievers by a 5-3 count over the final 45 minutes.

THE MOREHEAD STATE EAGLES (1-3)
After opening the season with a 1-0 victory over Central Michigan on August 18, the Eagles have dropped three consecutive matches including a loss at home to James Madison and losses to Marshall and Evansville on the road. Nicole Flantaco and Anna Lohrer each have one goal on the year while Hadley Cytron leads the squad with a pair of assists.
 
THE OHIO BOBCATS (1-1-1)
After falling by a 2-1 score to Duquesne in the season opener, the Bobcats earned a scoreless draw with Xavier before topping Marshall by a 3-1 count this past Sunday. Sunday's match marks the home opener for Ohio. The Bobcats' four goals on the year have all come by different scorers, including Cailynn Adelman, Regan Berg, Carsyn Prigge and Aubrey Rea. Goalie Celeste Sloma has played all three complete games and owns a 1.00 goals-against average to go with 16 saves over three matches.

KEYDETS vs. EAGLES
VMI and Morehead State have squared off three times before with the Eagles holding a 3-0 advantage.
 
KEYDETS vs. BOBCATS
