Women’s Track Opens Strong at Colonial Relays

Day 1 Results

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Under heavy winds, the VMI women's track team had several standout performances on Day One of the 2022 Colonial Relays at William & Mary's Walter J. Zable Stadium in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Senior Ellie Miller highlighted the day for the Keydets by placing third overall in the javelin throw with a personal-best distance of 32.06 meters.

Alexis Rocker performed well in the hammer throw with a 10th-place mark of 42.46 meters.

Freshman Eleyah Armstrong had a solid showing in both the long jump and 100 meter dash, placing 14th overall in the long jump at 4.96 meters and finished 18th in the 100 meter in 12.53 seconds.

Marissa Linkous came in 19th overall in the pole vault with a personal-best height of 3.10 meters.

Rachael Dickenson arrived in 24th place in the 5000 meter with a time of 18:50.08.

In the 3000m steeple, Gretal Shank placed 25th overall in 12:05.17 and Naomi Hahn finished close behind in 27th at 12:25.95.

Alyssa Ingerson and Caroline Fiorillo both competed in the 1500 meter run.

Day Two of the Colonial Relays begins at 9 a.m. Saturday.

VMI Director of Track and Field Zack Scott:
"Marissa Linkous had a good day in the pole vault, her second year competing in the event. Ellie Miller also threw the javelin really well in swirling winds. They both had personal bests today. We have our largest group of women competing this year in not great conditions, but I am happy with what we have been able to do."
