Keydets Resume SoCon Action on the Road

LEXINGTON, Va. – After five consecutive home games, the VMI women's soccer team hits the road to continue Southern Conference action at ETSU Friday and at Western Carolina Sunday afternoon.
 
The Keydets (1-10-2, 0-3) will face the Bucs Friday at 6 p.m. at Summers-Taylor Stadium in Johnson City, Tennessee, before taking on the Catamounts Sunday at 2 p.m. at Catamount Athletic Complex in Cullowhee, North Carolina.

THE ETSU BUCS (3-5-3, 1-2-1)
The Bucs are coming off a strong weekend in which they tied a tough Mercer squad last Friday before defeating The Citadel by a 1-0 score on Sunday. Chattanooga opened SoCon play with close losses to Furman and Wofford the week prior.
 
Emma Arnold and Aliya Cooper lead the team with two goals apiece while five others have score one goal each. With one goal for the year, Nele Bauer leads the team in shot attempts with 15 for the season. Blair Ashton (585:00, 2-2-2) and Shu Ohba (405:00, 1-3-1) have split time in the goalbox with similar results through 11 matches.
 
THE WESTERN CAROLINA CATAMOUNTS (2-5-4, 1-2)
Western is coming off a week in which they only played one competition – a close 2-1 loss to Mercer - due to its matchup with The Citadel in Charleston being canceled due to Hurricane Ian. WCU opened league play with a 3-0 win over Wofford before falling to Furman, 2-0, in Cullowhee Sept. 25.
 
Sophie Burchfield and Maggie Lloyd lead the team in goals with two apiece with four others contributing one goal each. Alexis DeMarco is the key distributor with three assists on the season, and Naya Marcil leads the squad in shot attempts with 23 for the year.
 
The Catamounts take on UNCG Friday night at home before facing the Keydets Sunday.

KEYDETS vs. BUCS
VMI trails the all-time series by a 1-6-2 count, with the 2021 match resulting in a close 1-0 win for ETSU.
 
KEYDETS vs. CATAMOUNTS
