Keydets Head to UNCG, SC State this Weekend

LEXINGTON, Va. – After starting conference play this past week, the VMI women's soccer team resumes league action Friday night at UNCG before taking a step out to face South Carolina State Sunday afternoon in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
 
The Keydets (2-9, 0-2) face the Spartans Friday night at 7 p.m. in Greensboro, North Carolina, then travel to South Carolina State for the Sunday tilt at 1 p.m.

About the Spartans (1-4-5, 0-1-1 SoCon)
As VMI's SoCon travel partner, the Spartans also faced Samford and Chattanooga on the road this past weekend and came away with a 3-0 loss to Samford Sunday and tied Chattanooga in a scoreless draw last Friday night. This season, the Spartans have fallen to UNC Wilmington, NC State and Liberty while earning draws with the likes of High Point, George Washington, James Madison, Campbell and Chattanooga.
 
UNCG is led by Nicole Souply, who has scored two goals on the year, while Maddy Gilhool is second with one goal. Gilhool, Rachel Rouse and Gracie Timbario have each contributed one assist through 10 matches played.  Souply also leads the team with 10 shot attempts on the season.
 
Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper has played all but 45 minutes in the goal box and owns a .96 goals-against average and 69 saves to go with five shutouts.
 
 
About the Bulldogs (0-9, 0-0 MEAC)
South Carolina State hopes to pick up its first victory of the season against the Keydets as the Bulldogs have been unable to tap the win column this fall.
 
South Carolina State is led by Ha'teya Hollomon, who has notched the Bulldogs' only goal this season in a close 2-1 loss to Shaw University in early September.
